Outings

Belonging Outings are a monthly way for older adults to spend time together outside The Jamii Hub, with art as the shared reason to go. For some people, it’s a chance to return to places they used to love. For others, it’s the first time they’ve gone to a theatre, gallery, or museum in years. Either way, it’s easier to show up when you’re not doing it alone.
These outings are built around simple things that matter: meeting up, recognizing familiar faces, and having time to talk while you walk. The art experience is part of it, but so is the moment before, when everyone gathers at the Hub, and the moment after, when people share what they noticed, what surprised them, or what a piece brought back for them. There’s no pressure to “know” anything. You can be quiet, you can ask questions, you can laugh, and you can take it in at your own pace.
Each month, we visit a different venue across Toronto and GTA. Outings can include outdoor theatre, live performances, museums, and galleries. Past visits have included Canadian Stage, McMichael Art Gallery, Aga Khan Museum, Market Gallery, Canadian Canoe Museum and more. The location changes, but the feeling stays consistent: a welcoming group and a chance to spend the afternoon in good company.
