FREE ADMISSION

Belonging Games Nights are a monthly opportunity for older adults to get together, play, and spend an easy evening with neighbours at The Jamii Hub. Choose from games such as backgammon, Scrabble, cards, and more, or bring a favourite board game or card game from home to share with the group.

The evenings are self-guided and intentionally relaxed. You might settle into a game you already know, learn something new from another participant, move between tables, or spend half the evening chatting between turns. You do not need to be an experienced player. Games simply give everyone something to gather around.

For people looking for free social activities for older adults in downtown Toronto, Games Nights offer a welcoming place to meet others and build connections over time. Friendly competition is part of the fun, but there is no pressure to play a certain way or stay for the entire evening.

Participants are welcome to bring their own food and drinks to enjoy while they play. Have a game you think others would enjoy? Bring it along.

What to expect

  • Games to choose from. Backgammon, Scrabble, cards, and other games will be available.

  • Bring your favourites. Participants are welcome to bring a board game or card game from home.

  • A relaxed evening. Join a table, switch games, chat with neighbours, and take part at your own pace.

  • No experience needed. You can play something familiar or learn a new game from another participant.

  • Bring your own food and drinks. Feel free to bring something to enjoy during the evening.

Joining Belonging

Games Nights are part of Jamii’s Belonging Older Adults program. Register for Belonging once and you can then drop in to Games Nights and other regular Belonging activities without registering again each time.

If you already receive Belonging program updates by email, you are already registered and do not need to complete the registration form again.

Jamii’s Belonging Older Adults programs are sponsored by Government of Canada - New Horizons for Seniors Program, Canada Council for the Arts, Government of Ontario, and St Lawrence Neighbourhood Association.

Support free community arts

Jamii keeps workshops free so everyone can take part, without financial barriers. If you’re able, you can support our $15 for 15 Years campaign and help us reach $15,000 by December 15 for Jamii’s future programs at The Jamii Hub. Your donation moves the goal forward and is eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Donate here now.
