On April 6, Alejandra Higuera will lead a creative circle where moms will have an open and safe space to share what it means to be a caregiver and bring all of themselves. Moms will use visual arts, writing, and movement with the goal of self-expression and connecting with self and other mothers in the circle.
Alejandra Higuera is a Latinx multidisciplinary, visual storyteller focusing on creating poetic visuals through different mediums. Her work focuses on themes of migration, feminism, memory, grief, ritual and being a solo parent by exploring how healing leads us to re-imaging ourselves. Alejandra spends a lot of her time being creative with her seven-year-old kiddo as she completes her studies in expressive art therapy.
For the duration of workshops, a team of certified caretakers provide moms with free off-site childcare at St. Lawrence Community Recreation Center, David Crombie Park, and St. Lawrence Toronto Public Library.
