LAINI Youth - Dancing Workshops

Your daughter will be in a group with a maximum of 12 participants, from grades 1 to 8. They will be led by professional artist Emilie Jabouin, along with our workshop facilitator and coordinator, Carolina Rojas.

Together, they will spend the sessions learning dance skills, creating their own choreography, rehearsing, and performing it. Their dances will be directly connected to the other three groups of the Laini Musical programme, which focus on Writing, Singing, and Costume Making.

This is a great opportunity to offer your child an enriching experience that develops a set of skills enhancing their dancing abilities, creativity, and personal growth. This includes:

• Creating original dance routines and choreography

• Collaboration through group dance sessions and ensemble work

• Learning dance techniques

• Managing performance anxiety while developing self-confidence

• Working on stage presence and rehearsal discipline

Rehearsal #1 for all groups: Wednesday, November 27, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm

Show for parents: Thursday, November 28, at 6 pm

EMILIE JABOUIN:

Emilie “Zila” Jabouin is a multi-talented dance artist, researcher, and storyteller living in Tkaronto, Turtle Island, who produces stories for collective liberation and social transformation. Training with master dancer and drummer Peniel Guerrier (NYC), she reconnects to Haitian folk culture as the foundation of her art practice (music, song, dance). In 2020, Emilie founded Do Gwe Dance and Research, an art-based company that merges dance and historical research into artistic productions. Emilie is working on a full-length piece, The Release, about pregnancy and bodily autonomy. She is also an emerging producer, a doctor of communication studies, a writer, and a public speaker.
