Returning to the Tradition of Oral Poetry
November 19, 2024
Workshop Lead: Leen Amarin
On Tuesday, November 19 at 7pm at the Jamii Hub, artist Leen Amarin will guide you through a unique creative writing workshop.
In reclaiming our inherent right of return, and as a gesture towards a return to Palestinian ancestral practices, this poetry/spoken word workshop aims to take us back to the tradition of oral poetry. Drawing on our personal and ancestral histories, we will engage with Palestinian voices and literature in order to find and share our own. Inspired by the process that led to one of Leen’s most popular poems, Mother Language, we will each leave this workshop with a piece written as a personal interpretation of found poetry.
We are looking forward to seeing you at this inspiring workshop, discover Leen's work and delve into your own poetry practice.
