JOY IN THE PARK: MELTEMI ORCHESTRA

JOY IN THE PARK!
May 16, 2025
6 pm to 8 pm
OUTDOOR EVENT SERIES IN DAVID CROMBIE PARK

We kicked off the season with an evening of live music, dancing, kids’ crafts, face painting, and a local artisan market. All free, all outdoors, and all about community.

Meltemi Orchestra set the tone with a vibrant mix of Greek and Turkish music, performed by an incredible lineup of musicians: Selcuk Suna, Demetrios Petsalakis, Brenna MacCrimmon, Dimitra Kahrimanidis, and George Vasiliou. Their sound brought people together—there was clapping, swaying, and more than a few folks dancing in the park.

Also featured was The Joy, a 30-minute dance and music performance blending flamenco, samba, and contemporary dance with Brazilian percussion, African flute, and French accordion. Performing artists included Carmen Romero, Adrianna Yanuziello, Nickeshia Garrick, Tangi Ropars, Aline Morales, and Waleed Abdulhamid. It was a high-energy celebration of rhythm, connection, and movement—a moment to feel, witness, and move with joy.
