OUTDOOR EVENT SERIES IN DAVID CROMBIE PARK

Friday, June 27, 2025 | 6PM – 8PM

David Crombie Park | The Esplanade Neighbourhood

Presented by Jamii

Jamii presented Joy in the Park on Friday, June 27th at 6pm in David Crombie Park (at Princess and The Esplanade) – a vibrant, family-friendly outdoor celebration of Canada’s Multiculturalism Day, filled with live music by Ventanas (flamenco style), dance performances by AIM (urban style), creativity with crafts for kids, face painting, and the return of the second Annual Esplanade Community Potluck!

As always, the event was free and welcoming to neighbours of all ages – many brought a dish to share and joined the fun. The artist line-up was breathtaking – a beautiful Joy in the Park!

Ventanas, led by powerhouse vocalist Tamar Ilana, is a six-piece flamenco-Mediterranean fusion band that transported audiences with fiery rhythms, rich vocals, and global grooves.

Black in Canada by Artists in Motion (AIM) offered a moving dance performance exploring Black Canadian history, resilience, and joy through powerful choreography and spoken word.

Crafts for kids encouraged the discovery of prominent Black Canadian figures.

Young ones were thrilled by face painting with Linda Epp, surprised by our stilt-walker and host Troy Feldman, and enjoyed family games with the St. Lawrence Community Recreation Centre, crafts by the St. Lawrence Daycare Co-Op, and a delicious BBQ by the St. Lawrence Market. It was a celebration of the best of The Esplanade community coming together to enjoy summer.

This event was part of Jamii and Canadian Stage’s ongoing collaboration to bring accessible, inclusive, and inspiring arts programming to public spaces. Thank you to Canadian Stage for such a meaningful partnership!

Joy in the Park was made possible with support from:

Canadian Heritage, Canada Council for the Arts, Toronto Arts Council, and Rama Gaming House.

Special thanks to our community partners: St. Lawrence Community Recreation Centre, St. Lawrence Daycare Co-Op, and St. Lawrence Market.
