Whether you're a seasoned book club enthusiast or a beginner, all are welcome to partake in Jamii's Book Club! In April, embark with us on a literary journey with 'Things Fall Apart' by Chinua Achebe (first published in 1958) – a novel depicting pre-colonial life in Igboland (modern-day southeastern Nigeria) and the subsequent arrival of European missionaries and colonial forces in the late 19th century. Uniquely and richly African, the novel reveals Achebe's keen awareness of the human qualities common to people of all times and places. Join us in reading this book, and participate in an enlightening conversation led by the passionate literature professor, Eshe Mercer-James.
Jamii does not provide the book, you can find it at the Toronto Public Library or retailers.
