Visual artist Saira Ansari guided participants in the creation of a collective fabric collage to be created and gifted to the Pikangikum community. This is part of a continued community sharing process between residents of the Esplanade, and those in Pikangikum First Nation in Northern Ontario.



Creative workshops were accompanied by live music with amazing artists: Lauren Barnett, Veronica Lee, Tangi Lion, Jerusa Leao, Katy Moonbean and Beny Esguerra


Jamii was delighted to present “Two x 30”, a contemporary dance/live art performance directed by Michael Caldwell.  Two x 30 explores the inextricable link between our collective and unconscious patterns of movement and our environment.

Saira Ansari received a Distinction in Art in her GCE O’Levels from Cambridge University, UK, she also studied Bachelor’s level Fine Arts, and was a Visualizer and Creative Director in Advertising and Director Editorial in Educational Publishing (and illustrated several children’s books). In Toronto, Saira has worked extensively in the non-profit sector with a focus on Diversity and Inclusion . She has designed trainings, workshops and sessions for board, staff and volunteer teams, started two diverse community women’s groups and led several cultural events.
